AMD's A10-5800K is the current top end of the FM2 range, like the other A10's it is a quad core APU utilising four Bulldozer Piledriver cores. Running at a cool 3.8GHz puts this up there with the FX-4300 for processing power, it also has the ability to safely overclock to 4.2GHz which puts it slightly ahead of the FX-4300. As with the others in this range it lacks any level 3 cache but has the benefit of integrated Radeon HD 7660D graphics which is currently the highest spec on-board GPU of any processor (Intel or AMD). A lot has been said about the ability or lack there of with regards these APUs and gaming, and if you are looking to run Modern Warfare 3 with the highest settings possible then you are going to seriously struggle. However we have tested this on Left 4 Dead 2 which it runs effortlessly and it does make it a serious contender for a budget gaming PC and a dream come true for any Home Theatre application, especially with its ability to render 3D Blu-Ray content.

AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) are a Processor Design and Manufacturing company, they are most well known for their ranges of Desktop PC Processors but also supply Mobile and Server Processors. The latter being primarily for cloud computing and virtualization environments. AMD devices are used everywhere from the smallest PC to state of the art Super Computers. Their purchase of ATI in 2006 has led to AMD developing CPU's that not only do normal processing functions but also graphics processing functions within a single chip.

*Note: APU Benchmarks are performed across a single range, scores reflect the APU's capabilities compared to other FM2 APU's in the range. The scores should be treated as a guide only as performance can vary greatly dependant on other system components.
