The FX8350 is the current highest specification processor that AMD have released, it uses the new Vishera Core technology which is an upgrade on the Zambezi Cores used in the earlier AM3+ releases. As with all the other CPU's in the FX-8000 range this one has eight Piledriver Cores, these run at a staggering 4GHz with the ability to boost the speed to 4.2GHz. We had both the FX-8320 and this FX-8350 to test at the same time and we found there is little to tell these apart performance wise especially if you aren't into heavily using your PC. We tried gaming this with Modern Warfare 3, CS:GO and Team Fortress 2, nothing phased it and CPU usage was never close to the maximum. A lot gets said about AMD's top end CPU's being less powerful than Intel's but there comes a point where the extra performance is only used in extreme cases. Eight Cores @ 4GHz with 16MB Cache, regardless of whether Intel is more powerful you will be hard pressed to stress either.

AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) are a Processor Design and Manufacturing company, they are most well known for their ranges of Desktop PC Processors but also supply Mobile and Server Processors. The latter being primarily for cloud computing and virtualization environments. AMD devices are used everywhere from the smallest PC to state of the art Super Computers. Their purchase of ATI in 2006 has led to AMD developing CPU's that not only do normal processing functions but also graphics processing functions within a single chip.
